Hey there you! I know, I know, it’s been a while. Did you think I forgot about you? Well I didn’t. It’s not you, it’s me….
Lots and lots of good things going on here in Danville as of late! With the summer comes lots of excitement and real estate activity! But today I want to do a little bit of bragging on some of the great happenings about town, so here we go!
V – The Market is up and running! Danville’s first and only boutique shop offering craft beers, gourmet cheeses and chocolates, cards from Chatterbox – Chit Chat on Paper, and various other wonderful things. Click Here to visit them on facebook for some more info and pics!- The Great American Brass Band Festival was yet again a great success! Nearly 30,000 were in attendance throughout the various events. Bourbon & Brass kicked things off nicely with some of Kentucky’s finest distilled spirits, and Friday brought The Gallery Hop downtown where local artists showcased their works. Saturday morning the parade was wonderful, and the picnic that night was fantastic! Kudos to those that work so hard putting this festival on and also to all of the citizens of Danville who make our guests feel so welcome!
- Since the The Great American Brass Band Festival is always my birthday weekend, I have since dubbed it the Great American Ben Guerrant Festival, but all in fun. We had a breakfast brunch here at my office for the parade Saturday morning, and special thanks go to my beautiful wife for getting all our friends and family to celebrate little ol’ me. Oh, and giving them free food and drinks helps! Stop by next year for a Bloody Mary!
- Hey, what goes great with all that beer you can now buy in Danville? Pizza of course! In addition to V – The Market, downtown has also added Bluegrass Pizza and Pub! Everything is made from scratch from start to finish, and they have been quite the destination as of late downtown. In fact, I’m heading there for lunch today!
- The City Hall renovation is coming to a close. I am most excited for our Police Department, as they have been upgraded from (literally) the basement to the Taj Mahal. Glad to see the Boys in Blue who do a great job helping our community getting the facilities they not only need, but deserve!
- To round things out, The Heart of Danville is offering Lawn Chair Theatre this summer. Free movies will be shown every Friday night in Constitution Square! All you have to do is show up with a blanket, chair, and a sunny disposition! This week is Monsters vs Aliens and I’ll give you a hint about next week…. it’s inconceivable!
Well, as you can see, things are moving right along in our corner of the world. We have lots to be proud of here in Danville! Won’t you com join us for a while???
